Drawing from diverse musical genres and influences, mapalma's debut EP develops her signature sound, one that eschews simple classification but is distinguished by her unconventional approach to rhythm. Simultaneously, mapalma experiments with bolder melodic arrangements, creating expansive soundscapes that convey dark but comforting, even playful atmospheres. Based on the idea of a night out, Nightcap is structured as one, with its tracks working together and against each other on many different scales thus compelling the listener to pay attention to detail but also to feel the EP as a whole.
